
MAIF commits to more responsible eating
Working together to promote more responsible eating is the challenge we'd like you to take up together!
This action is articulated in different points, starting with our own food practices. The aim is to take advantage of our shared passion for sport to fight against waste at our own level, by paying particular attention to packaging, food waste, the carbon impact of transport, and by favoring fresh, local and seasonal products. MAIF therefore strongly supports the EcoTrail Paris in revamping its food strategy, which will offer local, seasonal and organic products at its refreshment stands during the 2022 edition.
With this in mind, MAIF has also decided, for the new year, to take action in favor of a more responsible approach to food. As part of this initiative, the insurer has created a procurement guide to help other players in the sports sector improve their purchasing practices, particularly with regard to food.

This guide is one of several produced by MAIF with the aim of helping all players to rethink their practices and make them ever more respectful of the environment. You'll find a list of tips and best practices to help you find eco-sourced services and quality products.

MAIF also wants to set an example through its employer actions. The MAIF restaurant has been involved in the Mon Restau Responsable initiative for 2 years now.
Every year, nearly 3 billion meals are served in French school, company and hospital canteens. For many, it's the only balanced meal of the day. By virtue of the volume of purchases and the number of diners, mass catering is a powerful lever for relocating food systems from production to consumption, redirecting agricultural supply towards less polluting production systems, promoting educational initiatives to help diners change their eating habits, and offering everyone access to healthy, high-quality food.
Mon Restau Responsable is :
- Cooking quality, local and seasonal produce,
- Limit waste,
- Promote the comfort of guests and staff,
- It's all possible on a tight budget!
MAIF has made an initial assessment of its first two years. The militant insurer has set up a digital solution, ImOK, to better inform diners about lables and allergens, and to report saturation in catering areas. Thanks to strong actions to develop local partnerships, MAIF's collective catering has gone from 34% to 51% local sourcing and from 14% to 25% organic. It also offers a plant-based dish every day to suit vegetarian and vegan diets. As a result of all these actions, Ecocert level 1 certification will be awarded in November 2021. This certification recognizes collective catering establishments that introduce organic, local and healthy products, a success story for MAIF.
For the next 2 years, the MAIF restaurant is renewing its commitment to the Mon Restau Responsable initiative.

Rather, it provides the impetus needed to federate and synergize its partners, from both the sporting and environmental worlds, and their communities.
In this way, MAIF encourages, mobilizes and supports all those who can see themselves in this civic commitment, so that sport is also good for the health of the planet.
The militant insurer is committed to :
- Raising awareness, decompartmentalizing to federate, creating encounters to encourage synergies and thus enabling each player to be a contributor to change for the better,
- Provide keys to understanding and means of action,
- Federate and drive the Sport Planète commitment.
In line with its commitment to sustainable development, MAIF is making a point of including more and more people with disabilities in its ranks.
