For several years now, we at Salomon have been thinking about ways to reduce our environmental impact, both in product design and at major sporting events. Discover our responsible commitments.

Designing responsible products

We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of all our products through responsible innovation and performance. Whether in the selection of materials, the lifespan of products or the way they are recycled, we seek to develop a more responsible approach to running.

Recycling for rebirth

Several years ago, we came up with theINDEX.01, the very first road racing boot that could be completely recycled to make ski boots.

Giving trail equipment a second life

Maintaining and repairing runners' equipment, whether elite or amateur, is part of Salomon's environmental charter for events and athletes. By increasing the lifespan of trail equipment, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact. A dedicated stand will be set up at the EcoTrail Paris 2023. To be continued...

Supporting public recycling solutions

As a member of the strategic committee of the Ecologic organization, Salomon has made a direct contribution to the development of Extended Producer Responsibility in France since the creation of the Sporting and Leisure Goods sector of the French anti-waste law for a circular economy.

Changing our sports

We are committed to supporting our athletes and events to move towards more responsible sporting practices. Since 2022, Salomon has begun offsetting the global carbon footprint of its team of athletes by defining a list of sustainability goals to be achieved by 2025.

Among the actions implemented during sporting events :

• Protecting water by avoiding overconsumption and pollution
• Draw energy from clean energy resources, using renewable energies wherever possible
• Promote responsible sourcing by using sustainable and reusable materials at events (e.g., for pennants and banners).
• Better waste management through product reduction, recycling and reuse
• Ban plastic as much as possible for bags, trophies, gifts, bottles and glasses

Among the actions taken by our team of athletes:

• Analyze the individual carbon footprint of each international athlete's travels
• Maintain and repair athletes' equipment
• Protect the environment by respecting natural sites when practicing sports (no waste, no degradation).
• Promote an eco-responsible lifestyle by adopting eco-friendly habits wherever possible
• Raise awareness of environmental issues by regularly communicating on their initiatives, as well as those of Salomon.
• Supporting communities in their efforts to limit their environmental impact
