On Saturday January 21, EcoTrail Paris, in association with the ONF, is inviting its community of runners to a tree-planting operation in the Meudon state forest.
From 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, two Office National des Forêts staff will welcome and guide around 50 volunteers for a morning of planting 100 sessile oaks.
The planting will take place in the immediate vicinity of the EcoTrail Paris 2023 runners' route, on plot 4 near Place du Garde.
Planting a tree is a silvicultural action that takes place when natural regeneration of the trees has not been possible: indeed, the forester always favors natural regeneration, but with climate change, forests are suffering from drought, extreme heat and the spread of certain pathogens such as ink disease, present in this state forest.
Plantations have become necessary to rebuild the forest.
Equipped with gloves and spades, volunteers will plant the seedlings. ONF staff will be on hand to explain the various stages of planting, and to find out more about ONF forest management.
A civic act that will help protect the environment!
