Eco-responsibility at the heart of the EcoTrail Paris
Nowadays, you can't do just anything!
L'EcoTrail Paris has understood this. On the one hand, the organization allows you to climb formidable climbs, plunge into the mud and scull between the trees of the Meudon forest. In short, you can indulge your passion for trail running in the Ile de France region. On the other hand, it's committed to protecting the environment. And at the same time, it's helping you to clear your conscience.
How? Demonstrated in 9 simple and effective actions.
1. Because there's no plastic at the feed stations. And because it's good for the environment.
For the past 10 years, the organizers have been using water tanks and ramps to allow you to fill your water bottles. This avoids the distribution of cups, which inevitably end up on the ground and contribute to the pollution of natural environments. At the same time, water consumption is kept under control, notably through the use of dry toilets.
2. Because it's organic and local. And because it's not just a bobo fad.
Proof that you can get involved and help save the planet, without overdoing it. At the refito, it's good, healthy and organic... All served in compostable crockery. It just goes to show that it's possible to combine pleasure, sport and ecology.
3. Because food waste is banned. And because it's the first step towards zero guilt.
The mental revolution starts here. You can't always eat more. At the refito, before, during and after the race, there's no question of biting off more than you can chew. You just take what you need and eat as much as you can, down to the last crumb. The rest is donated to charity. Which is something to be proud of.
4. Because trampled soil is rehabilitated. And that's crucial.
A single watchword: action! Every year, the EcoTrail rehabilitates fragile ONF areas and takes into account the requirements of the Natura 2000 incident scheme for the protection of the sensitive sites it crosses. And it's an understatement to say that this is necessary after the passage of 11,500 hard-working runners, especially in wet weather conditions.
5. Because site cleanup is mandatory. And it's the right thing to do.
Reducing waste or recycling bio-waste is all very well. But cleaning up after runners is even better. Opération Ménage de printemps (Spring clean-up) therefore took place after training sessions and competitions, with a hundred or so eco-actors. A collective action that you can then continue on your own on a daily basis, so as not to stop there.
6. Because it promotes accessibility and mobility. And that's no mean feat.
A free ticket, a free ride. The winning duo for getting to the starting line of your race without the hassle and without damaging your carbon footprint. The real trigger is to think about transport, shuttles or carpooling to get to the sites.
7. Because we carry around a waste bag. And it's not so basic.
A small gesture which, if it becomes a good habit, goes a long way towards protecting the environment. The waste bag allows you to dispose of anything that needs to be thrown away, as you go. Reusable, it's the eco-friendly reflex to adopt.
8. Because they recover abandoned textiles. And it's not just for show.
No more ponchos, sweatshirts and T-shirts littering the start area! Just like at home, before you set off, you'll place your protective clothing in a laundry basket. Textile throwing accepted! And at the end, the whole lot is distributed to a humanitarian association. Banco!
9. Because you've signed the charter. And because it's a sign of your green conscience.
The Ecotrail ethical charter? It's not just talk. It's a promise of results. It's 10 commandments that all participants and partners undertake to respect. Enough to get the ball rolling in the short term and make you an eco-responsible trailer!
