Green mobility accelerates at the EcoTrail Paris®.
Every year, the EcoTrail Paris® takes another step in favor of the planet. Eco-responsibility has been an integral part of the race's DNA since its creation in 2008. Through this series of articles, we'd like to highlight the various actions taken in favor of the environment during this 14th edition (July 3 & 4, 2021).
How about taking a step for the planet? At a time when eco-responsibility is at the heart of everyone's concerns, the EcoTrail Paris® has always sought to be a race that raises awareness of environmental protection issues. Innovative at the time, our event has now become an experimental laboratory and a genuine source of inspiration for other sporting organizations. In order to optimize our development, we focus on 6 major axes, behind which we develop concrete actions in the field.
Green" mobility increasingly appealing
With this in mind, mobility has always been a real issue. For several years now, we have been taking numerous measures to reduce our environmental footprint. For our 14th edition, we have once again drawn up an ambitious, eco-responsible transport plan. In order to limit air travel, we have launched a campaign to recruit runners from the Paris region and surrounding areas. Our ultimate goal is to achieve 0% of participants arriving in the capital by plane. Friends from the south of France, the return of night trains between Paris and Nice since May could nevertheless enable you to join us with peace of mind. Our main ambition is to limit the carbon footprint of our 14,000 participants by prioritizing environmentally-friendly means of transport.
A free RER ticket
So that every trailer can prepare for the start and enjoy the event to the full, there are several alternatives for reaching the starting line, depending on the distance preferred (Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, Observatoire de Paris-Meudon, Château de Versailles, Île de loisirs de Saint-Quentin en Yvelines). To help participants get to the various sites easily and without weighing down their carbon footprint, the organizers are offering them an RER ticket with the purchase of a race number.

Car-sharing shifts up a gear
Also with a view to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the EcoTrail Paris has teamed up with the Mobicoop cooperative platform, which connects carpoolers free of charge. Encouraging runners and all visitors to pool their transport, that will be our ambition for this year 2021."We've noticed that organizers of sporting events are increasingly keen to promote these new modes of gentle transport. Sport is an excellent way of raising public awareness of environmental issues," explains Eddy Klemenczak, founder of Votre Evénement reponsable.
Mobicoop: a free service based on solidarity
Whether driver or passenger, Mobicoop offers every participant the opportunity to carpool freely and free of charge."We are delighted to be able to collaborate for the first time with the EcoTrail Paris for this 2021 edition. Mobicoop is a free carpooling service, meaning that the site takes no commission on journeys made. Participants in the EcoTrailParis® will be able to use the service to get several people to their starting sites. A link is sent to them when they validate their registration. This initiative will reduce the number of car journeys required. As a bonus, it's an opportunity to forge links with other nature run enthusiasts ahead of the race," says Brune Cangardel, Mobicoop's events coordinator.
Thanks to these new "green" transport methods, runners and their companions are actively taking part in this eco-responsible approach. And let's face it, it's much more pleasant and convivial to make the journey together!
We therefore invite you to use eco-mobility to join us on July 3 and 4.
